Anaheim’s Pioneer Park E Underhill Ave

Located in west Anaheim, this 15-acre park is a great place to bring kids for a day of play. It boasts a variety of playgrounds and baseball fields.

Playgrounds

One of the best family parks in Anaheim has a pretty amazing playground that will have kids of all ages playing for hours. The tree house play structure has a zip line exit, a rock bridge to cross and an array of play panels including one that has bells that strike music notes when hit with mallets! There are also two picnic shelters that can be reserved for residents and visitors. The park has a fully ADA accessible baseball field that is open to the public. The bathrooms at this park have a surprisingly snazzy design that includes high ceilings and stainless steel fixtures, and washable floor coverings. Earlier this year, the city of Anaheim received a lot of attention from a local councilwoman for its cruisy bathroom renovations at several of its parks.

Baseball Fields

The city is revamping a ball field and the surrounding area at Pioneer Park to make it ADA-friendly. It’s part of a $2 million renovation for the park and its ball field, which has been a fixture in the community since 1963. The baseball fields will be resurfaced and will be specially designed for children with disabilities, the Angels Baseball Foundation and Major League Baseball announced Wednesday. The Miracle League baseball field will have a completely flat, cushioned and rubberized surface and wheelchair-accessible dugouts. This family park is one of the better ones in Anaheim to take your kids for a game or picnic because it has a great bathroom. It is located south of the 91 freeway at N Sunkist St and Underhill Ave. The restrooms have high ceilings and stainless steel fixtures. They are a big upgrade to the older bathrooms that many parks in Anaheim have.

Picnic Shelters

Located in West Anaheim, Pioneer Park E Underhill Ave is a 15.8-acre family park with picnic shelters and bathrooms. In 2014, the city approved $1.2 million in renovations to the park. The improvements include new restrooms, lighting, landscaping, picnic tables and water fountains. This park is also home to the Raymond Retarding Basin, a synthetic turf baseball field for children with disabilities. In 2016, the park received additional funds to improve the bathroom. This project was completed at the request of Councilwoman Denise Barnes, who brought up the issue of park bathrooms during her time on the council. She has since advocated for many improvements to the restrooms at local parks.
