Disney California Adventure Park

Disney California Adventure Park (formerly known as Disney’s California Adventure) is a theme park located in Anaheim, adjacent to Disneyland. The 72-acre (29 ha) park opened on February 8, 2001, and is owned and operated by The Walt Disney Company.

The park features eight themed lands inspired by various Disney, Pixar and Marvel Studios properties. Here, you’ll meet classic characters and experience rides that are sure to take your breath away! Read on for some ideas.

Marvel Superheroes

Marvel Super Heroes are a popular part of the Disney California Adventure Park experience. They make for great meet and greets, and guests often see new characters that have been introduced on TV or in a Marvel movie for the first time.

When a new Marvel series or movie debuts, you can expect to see new Super Heroes appear on Avengers Campus for a limited time. For example, the Scarlet Witch and America Chavez have recently appeared, as well as Moon Knight and Mr. Knight.

Similarly, when a character from a TV show or a Marvel movie changes to a different costume, you can often see that in Avengers Campus. For instance, Loki was first seen in a regal green ensemble and then changed to a prison jumpsuit as soon as he was introduced in an episode on the Disney+ streaming service.

There are plenty of other fun activities for Marvel fans at the Disneyland Resort. From rides to food, Marvel characters are a big part of everything that makes the parks so special.

Cars Land

The newest land at Disney California Adventure Park Anaheim CA, Cars Land is home to a variety of attractions. From Radiator Springs Racers to Sally’s Cozy Cone Motel and Flo’s V8 Diner, this re-imagined area of the park is packed with fun for all.

Radiator Springs Racers is a family-friendly, Disney FastPass attraction that features Lightning McQueen, Sally, Mater, Doc Hudson and Luigi driving convertibles through the Cars world. It’s a highly immersive experience that will take your breath away!

One of the more popular attractions at Cars Land, Radiator Springs Racers is often crowded and can have long waits. Try getting a fast pass for this ride to save time!

Another must-do in Cars Land is to grab a bite at Sally’s Cozy Cone Motel. Their Chili Cone Queso and Bacon Mac & Cheese cones are delicious! Plus, there are plenty of other snack options. The Cozy Cone Motel also has an extensive line of cone-themed merchandise, including toys, apparel and hats. Discover more exciting places here.

Hollywood Land

Hollywood Land is a themed area of Disney California Adventure Park Anaheim CA, adjacent to Disneyland. Designed with classic Southern California architecture, this area takes you back to the Golden Age of Hollywood while adding a generous dose of Disney magic.

The land has several attractions that are based on movie and theater, including Mickey’s PhilharMagic and the Monsters Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!

You’ll also find a subsection called Hollywood Studios, which is designed to mimic an active studio backlot. The district is home to the 3D film Mickey’s PhilharMagic and a 2000-seat Hyperion Theater, formerly known as Frozen – Live at the Hyperion.

At night, you can enjoy World of Color, a water and light show that features dazzling colors and animations. The area is also home to the Nintendo-themed Super Nintendo World and a new Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge ride. There are also several restaurants serving delicious cuisines and plenty of kid-friendly choices.

World of Color

The nighttime water show World of Color at California Adventure Park uses water and fog as its canvas, transforming Paradise Bay with a glittering kaleidoscope of fountains and mist screens splashed with projections from favorite Disney and Pixar stories. It also features lasers, pyrotechnics and multi-colored lights.

Guests may choose to view the show through three different options: join the virtual queue, book a dining package or access standby viewing areas shortly before the show in Paradise Bay. The virtual queue is accessible via the Disneyland App and does not require an additional fee.

Generally, you should plan to arrive about an hour or two before the first show if you want to get a good seat. You can find standby viewing areas at the bridge of Pixar Pier, back against The Little Mermaid ride and in roped sections at the back of reserved viewing. Cast members can let you into these areas without a virtual queue if there is space. Check our next area of interest here.
